The teaching toolbox is our club's Centennial Community Project.  Certain requirements where made by Rotary International to officially be a Centennial Project such as fulfilling a clearly identifiable community need and providing a solution that has measurable results.

Each year there are more and more students in our classrooms.  There is less money per student available for new schools, teachers and supplies, however, the laundry list of required/requested supplies grow each year. At the start of each year, a list of these required supplies is given to each child but some cannot afford even the simplest of items.  Researches show that the average teacher spends $500 to $1000 of their own money each year to compensate for missing items.  The Teaching Toolbox has been one small contribution to our community to help solve one of our current school system's dilemmas.

The school we chose to reach out to is right in our back yard at Lake Orienta Elementary.  Built from the ground up by our club, The Toolbox is a self-contained, climate controlled storage that remains stocked with supplies necessary for the teachers to function daily without the worries of shortages.
